Abstract

In the present article the geographic distribution of the etruscan shrew, Suncus etruscus,in the Iberian Catalonia is show, as well as certain aspects of its systematic, based on craniometrical analysis, and on the presence of this species in the diet of the barn owl, Tyto alba. The study has been carried out on specimens shot with pellets; for the biometrical analysis, specimens coming from Les Borges Blanques (Lleida) and Vallmoll (Tarragona) have been used. The etruscan shrew covers most of the Catalonian territory; it appears in a low percentage in b e specific spectrum of the barn owl nourishment; from the systematic point of view, no substantial differences are noticed in relation to the population of the SW of France.
