Über die Coronar-Höhe des Unterkiefers als trennendes Merkmal (?) verschiedener Wimperspitzmaus-Taxa im Mittelmeerraum (Mammalia, Insectivora)

Abstract

The object of this study is to evaluate the differentiative quality of the coronoid height in various species of the mediterranean genus Crocidura. Based on this measurement, it is possible to diferenciate the three following group of species: C. russula, C. suaveolens and C. leucodon. Nevertheless, it has no efficiency to differenciate subspecies. In spite of the exceptions, it is possible to conclude that wherever there are two taxa together, the coronoid height is a characteristic worth taking into consideration in the specific diagnosis.
