Census of Feral Pigeons (Columba livia var.) from the Barcelona city
A census of Feral Pigeons ((Columba livia var.) has been carried out in Barcelona. The city was divided in 833 squares (300 x 300 m.) and a random saimple of them choosed. The birds in these squares were counted and the population was estimated of 70.782 individuals, which signifies a mean of 947,55 pigeons/Km2. The highest concentrations of pigeons are in the various old nucleus of the city; in the peripheric and industrial areas there are none or a very small ammount
