Abstract

Polychaetes of the Lithophyllum tortuosum (Rhodophyta, Corallinacea) cornices
The annelid polychaetes population of Lithophyllum tortuosum was studied in the Medes Islands (Girona, NE Spain). 24 samples from three stations were analysed. 56 species were identified. The most abundant species were: Fabricia sabella, Sphaerosyllis pirifera, Brania pusilla, Perinereis cultrifera, Platynereis dumerilii, Syllis gracilis, Pseudobrania clavata, and Oriopsis armandi. Species distribution and population characteristics were analysed according to spatial and temporal factors.
