Description and systernatic position of Arachnomimus cristithorax n. gen. n. sp. (Coleoptera, Ptinidae) from Venezuela
A new Ptinid beetle from Venezuela, Arachnomimus cristithorax n. gen. n. sp., is described. It exhibits the general features that characterize the genus Niptus and its relatives. Nevertheless, its peculiarly shaped pronotum is very similar to that of several neotropical Ptinus belonging to the tomentosus group, thus suggesting the derivation of both stocks from a common ancestor.
