PDFAbstract
A new species of Microphysidae from the Canary Islands (Insecta, Heteroptera)
Loricula stenocephala n. sp. (Heteroptera Microphysidae) is described on 3 specimens (1 male and 2 females) from Cumbre Jandía (Fuerteventura, Canary Islands), P. Oromí leg. It belongs to pselaphiformis group, in which females are characterized by their truncate hemelytra about the middle of the abdomen. It appears to be closed to L. meinanderi Péricart, 1972, from Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Gomera, but this species is smaller (male = 1.8, female = 1.25), with teguments almost matt, with much shorter head (equal in males or wider than long in females) shorter antennae, and their 2nd article always shorter than diatone (male = slightly female = considerably).
