Abstract

Annelida Polychaeta of Cabo de Creus (NE Spain). Corallina elongata Ellis & Solander and Cystoseira mediterranea (J. Feldmann) facies
The Corallina elongata and Cystoseira mediterranea facies found in the outer layers of the photophilous algae biocoenosis, present a polychaete population common to this biocoenosis. However, quantitatively speaking, certain fluctuations can be observed which are mainly related to: a) the action of hydrodinamism that reduces diversity and limits the presence of species common to others facies of photophilous algae, giving rise to the predominance of Pseudobrania vieitezi (this effect can be observed in both facies) and b) the competition with other organisms (Amphipoda, Isopoda) together with the variable development and density of talus in C. mediterranea. In the summer samples studied, juvenile specimens of Platynereis dumerilii have been detected in both facies inside a mucous tube that seems to act as a temporary nursery.
