Abstract

Ultrastructural study of the internal and external epithelium of the penis of Murex brandaris (L., 1758) (Gastropoda, Prosobranchia)
The penis of Murex brandaris, studied in optical and electron microscopy, is conical in shape and in its interior there is a spermiduct covered by prismatic and ciliated epithelium. Externally, another ciliated epithelium with abundant goblet cells, envelopes it. The presence of some adhaerens and septate junctions are detected in neighbouring cells of both epithelia.
