Abstract

Historical trends in the carnivorous community of Monte de El Pardo (Madrid, Central Spain)
Hunting records quoted as “alimañas” from the archives of the Roya1 Palace of Madrid were used. Capture data from the XVIIIth, XIXth and XXth (first halo centunes were standarized and the population drifts along this time penod analyzed. The temporal evolution of the cornmunity parameters were also investigated. Results showed clear trends: wild carnivorous populations decreased, domestic dogs and cats showed a clear increase along the last three centuries in this preserved area.
