Abstract

The genus Zygophylax Quelch, 1885 (Cnidaria, Hydrozoa) in Biscay Bay
Three species have been found in the bathyal zone of the south of Biscay Bay (north of Spain): Z. sibogae Billard, 1918, only known from South Africa and three other stations in the Pacific Ocean, is the first record for the Atlantic fauna; Z. levinseni (Saemundsson, 1911) only known through the original description and other scarce records; and Z. biarmata Billard, 1905, a well known species with a worlwide scattered distribution. Descriptions of the specimens, and some considerations on the genus Zygophylax in the waters around the Iberian peninsula are given.
