Syllinae (Syllidae, Annelida, Polychaeta) from Chafarinas lslands (Alborán Sea, W Mediterranean)

Abstract

A study on the benthic invertebrate communities of the Chafarinas lslands was carried out recently, paying special attention to some groups, among them Polychaeta. In this work, the results of the study of subfarnily Syllinae (Annelida, Polychaeta, Syllidae) are given, citing 34 species, three of which are described: Haplosyllis charnaeleon Laubier, 1960, Syllis compacta Gravier, 1900, and Syllis pectinans Haswell, 1920.
