Resumen

Migration in Spain of the Linnet (Carduelis cannabina, L.)
The migration in Spain of Carduelis cannabina was studied using 755 recoveries of birds ringed abroad and six long distance recoveries of Iberian birds. Two migration fronts of European Linnets arrive in Spain. One of them along the Atlantic European countries, from the Escandinavian Peninsula to the Iberian Peninsula. The other one, from south of Germany and Switzerland, to spend the winter along the Mediterranean coasts and the Balearic Islands. Linnets arrive from September to November. Young birds seem to arrive, on the average, before adults. Many birds which arrive in Spain cross the Iberian Peninsula and go to Africa. A considerable number of Iberian populations show a postnupcial migration and go south, probably to cross the Strait of Gibraltar.
