Hunt of Wolf (Canis lupus L., 1758) in Girona (NE Iberia) during the 18th and 19th centuries: exemple of the use of archive data
A study was carried on 456 wolfs hunted between 1722 and 1739 and 227 wolfs hunted between 1788 and 1852, from historical archive data. During the first period the density of captures was 0.6 wolves 1100 km² x year and during the second 0.2 wolfs/100 km² x year. Youngsters were in dens from April-June until August-Setember. Medium size of litters was 3.75 (n = 91 litters) in 1722-1739 and 3.14 (n = 42 litters) in 1788-185
