Resumen

Variations of the concentration of heavy metals in some earthworm species in five mines in Galicia (NW Spain)
Some earthworm species and soil samples were collected in five mines, at the waste heaps and adjacent zones, following a slope or a stream from the waste heaps. Heavy metals Cd, Pb, Cu, Ni and Zn were measured in earthwoms and soil samples (0-5 cm and 5-15 cm depth). Soil results are very variable and show the influence of the dynamic of mines and their spatial variation. Earthwom species show differences among them, but when grouping species in ecological categories there are not clear differences. A concomitant variation in metal concentration in soils and earthwoms can be observed.
