Resum

Reproductive biology of Gelochelidon nilotica (Gm., 1789) in the south of the Iberian Peninsuia
The colony of the “Laguna de Fuente Piedra” (Southern Spain) being one of the largest known at present, has been studied between 1981 and 1983. The variables used were those studied in northern Europe. The colony had settled upon a dispersed halophytic plant substrate. The relationship between thc trophic availability and the large size of the colony in the south is dealt with. An advance is observed in all the reproductive phenology of the species compared with Denmark; likewise, there is a great syncronization. The average clutch size calculated was lower than that of Northern Europe, while the final production is similar.
