Resum

Differentiation of begging calls during development in three species of Corvids
Sonagrams of begging calls of Corvus corone, Corvus monedula and Pica pica were compared along three nestling developmental stages using factor discriminant analysis. Results showed an early intergenenc differentiation followed by the latter splitting of the two Corvus species. The account of factors other than phyletic similarity for explaining the relationships obtained is discussed. Neither size differences nor nesting habits of the species seem to be relevant for the structure of vocalizations. Except for the prefledgling period, in which vocalizations are strongly dependent of the life history of the species, relationships during earlier stages are better explained in terms of systematics.
