The Amphibians of the Eastern Pre-Pyrenees (Cadí-Moixeró and La Cerdaña)
The eastern Pre-Pyrenees were prospected using 5 x 5 UTM squares from 1974 to 1986. 13 Amphibian species were found. Their geographical and altimetric distribution is given, and their corology discussed according to other data from the Pyrenees. Pelobates cultripes, Pelodytes punctatus, Triturus helveticus and Triturus marmoratus are new species for the area. Outstanding points are: the finding of Euproctus asper at a fairly low altitude, and Pelodytes punctatus at nearly alpine locations; Alytes obstetricans is very abundant, which contrast with the searcity of Hyla genus, some individuals of Rana temporaria have very long legs, resembling then thuse of Rana dalmantina. In La Cerdaña Rana temporaria is found at quite low altitudes, coexisting with R. perezi.
