Abstract

Ordovician Conodonts from Argentina
Ordovician conodont associations from the western and northwestern basins of Argentina are summarized. Tremadoc to Caradoc conodont Zones referable to the biostratigraphic scheme for the North Atlantic Province have been recognized by the presence of the index species: Cordylodus proavus Muller, Paroistodus proteus (Lindström), Prionidus elegans Pander, Oepikodus evae (Lindström), Baltoniodus navis (Lindström), Eoplacognathus variabilis (Sergeeva), Eoplacognathus suecicus Bergstrom, Pygodus serrus (Hadding), Pygodus anserinus Lamont and Lindström and Amorphognathus superbus Rhodes. Correlation between the Ordovician conodont associations fthm Argentina and their biostratigraphic equivalents from North America, Europe, Asia and Australia is made.
