About the presence of Metacinnabar in Almadén Mining District (Ciudad Real, Spain)
The presence of Metacinnabar is undoubtably established in Almadén and Entredicho mercury ores. Morphology and paragenesis are described and the results of characterization by conventional microscopy (including reflection microscopy), X-Ray difractometry and X-Ray dispersive energy (EDS) are expressed. In spite of the absence of the hexaedral phase in the intergranular mineralization of quartzites, the presence of Metacinnabar in the carbonated veins must be considered in general ore mineralogenesys in the Almadén district.
