PDFAbstract
On the stratigraphy of the singular section of Roca de Narieda (southern part of the Lower Cretaceous series of Organyà). Catalonian Pyrenees, Spain
The Roca de Narieda section is the only one in the Catalonian Pyrenees which shows the coastal aggradation of almost all the Lower Cretaceous sedimentary cycle ranging from Neocomian to Upper Aptian. The coastal onlap (retrogradation) of different sedimentary bodies over the
Jurassic substratum is well visible and corresponds to the SE shelf margin of the South Pyrenean basin in Lower Cretaceous times. The micropaleontological analysis of numerous samples enables us to refute the erroneous ideas of several authors with regard to the chrono- and sequential stratigraphy of this rugged and hardly accessible mountain.
