Abstract

Gaston Astre and the geology of the Cadí-Pedraforca area. History of an unpublished cartography compiled between 1922 and 1927?
Like other historic institutions, the Laboratory of Geology of Paul Sabatier University (Toulouse, France) keeps in its archives and collections several original and unknown documents which may have some interest for the history of scientific knowledge and its evolution. For this reason we present here a geological map of the Cadí-Pedraforca area (Catalonia), compiled by Gaston Astre between 1922 and 1927 and recently found in that Laboratory. His author was the first to recognize the existence of thrust fault tectonics in this area of southern Pyrenees.
